Plants for hedges.
When we choose the species that make up the hedge, consider the following factors: attitude to trim, lighting, soil conditions; gas resistance, longevity, growth rate and dynamics of regrowth shoots after pruning, biological compatibility of different types, features seasonal and age-related changes in appearance of plant, also hardiness and drought. For creating of hedges we use spruce, western thuja, buckthorn, hawthorn, spirea, barberry, cotoneaster, dog rose, yellow acacia, prickly cherry, gorse, grass, boxwood, etc.
Spruce is an exclusively valuable species, you can create virtually impenetrable fence with height of 5.6 m. Evergreen spruce retain the high decorative value throughout the year. It is successfully combined with the emerald lawn, and snow-white winter blanket, and it looks extremely effective on the background of any building. It should, however, be taken into consideration that the spruce plant is adversely affected by soil drought and low humidity. Another feature of spruce is its slow growth in the first years of life. Among the other conifers western thuja is recommendedfor creating hedge. It is extremely decorative, plastic, suitable for forming any geometric forms while there are plenty of natural varieties. However, Thuja is growing very slowly, a long period is required for a full hedge of biennial plants.
Low hedges are used for the allocation of stalls. The regular cutingof green fences provide the desired shape: triangular, square, round. After figured cutting the hedge acquires particular decorativeness . Borders are widely spread hedges which are intended mainly to highlight patterns in the flower beds, delimitation of the parterre, etc. It is recommended to use for this purpose box that is classical plant design for the front stalls.
